2024: ASG Fabrication's year in review

As we approach the end of a challenging year for the industry, we thought it would be worthwhile looking back at the year we have had as a business and the jobs we have been working on.

When you are involved in multiple jobs it's often difficult to take a moment to look back at the work you have done with pride. At ASG we are proud of all the projects we have been commissioned for in 2024 and hope to carry on that good work into 2025.

With that being said, lets take a look back

January

As a business we had a really fast start to the year. Orders from Actiform for their Sulis and Carlisle projects in the healthcare sector set us up nicely for the coming months.

Sulis was a 33-bay order with 6 of the modules being used as operating theatres, meaning a much more complex design. You can read more about the project here.

The Carlisle project started out as an initial 46-bay order but has since grown to the point where elements of the project are still being worked on including external staircases and structural glass balustrade. The brand new Endoscopy Unit at Cumberland Hospital is expecting to open in Spring 2025. You can read more about the project by clicking the below links.

In January we also recieved an order from Caddick for a large metalwork package for a project in Goole. This project, YARA, would go on to be one of the biggest metalwork packages we have ever been commissioned for and have only recently signed the project off. You can read more about this project here.

Elsewhere we recieved the first of multiple orders from Elite Systems, who we share a very positive working relationship with as you can see in the image above with a comment from their MD Marcus Sutcliffe.

February

As we started work on our feature Actiform and Caddick projects, we received the first of multiple NG Bailey orders for Stainless Steel Drip trays which would be installed at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in their operating theatres. This initial order and subsequent quality work from our shop floor guys let to more orders throughout the year totalling over £95,000.

On site we continued work on live jobs throughout February for Caddick, Stainforth and Marshall Construction.

March

March saw two more orders come in from Elite Systems with a scope of work to manufacture and deliver 30 end frames.

We received our first metalwork order of the year from Stainforth Construction for their Home Bargains project in Shipley. ASG's scope of work included mezzanine stair and balustrade, external ramp and roof stair balustrade and stainless protection hoops.

On site we installed some perforated panels for Torsion Construction at their Saxton Lane project and continued work on live sites for Caddick, Stainforth and Marshall Construction.

April

After an order in 2023, work contined at Caddick's offices in Wakefield. Here, our scope of work was to supply and install an internal accommodation staircase, balustrades and wall handrails, an internal escape staircase and wall handrails.

As part of our Community Partnership with Leeds United we were invited to their end of season awards night at Elland Road. This was a great chance to network with other businesses whilst celebrating the great season that Leeds United had. We were pleased to send our Leeds United die-hard, Charlie to be our representative on the night.

May

We started our new financial year by completing the first phase of the Sulis, Actiform project, and then recieved two big orders from NG Bailey for additional drip trays for ARI and a project where we would supply and deliver mechanical goalposts and anchor frames to Manchester Airport.

June

June was a very big month for us as we recieved multiple orders worth a value of over £700,000.00.

This included a new project for Caddick Construction in Scarborough and the main order for the Torsion, Saxton lane wind mitigation project. This project would see us through until the end of November. Read about the project here.

June also saw us pick up our first order of the year from Premier Modular, this was to supply and install 2nr internal staircases, staircase balustrades and handrails for their project at Warwick Hospital.

This project was the catalyst for another staircase order later on in the year from Premier Modular.

We also started work on site in Mirfield for Tilbury Douglas at a new Dementia Centre.

July

In July we continued our site work at projects for Stainforth and Caddick, whilst picking up variation orders for the ARLA project and additional drip trays for NG Bailey.

We also receieved the metalwork package for a Marshall Construction project in Widnes. This scope of work incuded an entrance feature canopy and various street furniture elements.

August

August was a quieter month in terms of orders coming in, but the work on site was still as fast paced as ever.

We made good progress on the wind mitigation trees and screens for Torsion as well as good progress in Mirfield at the Kirklees Dementia Centre. We picked up some more variation orders for Caddick, Marshall's and Stainforth.

September

We got the go ahead from Marshall Construction to start work on a metalwork project in Irlam, which included a galvanised staircase installation, bollards, keyclamp, stainless hoops, armco barriers and an entrance canopy. We are expecting this project to grow in size moving into 2025.

Elsewhere we started work on site in Warwick for Premier Modular, and receied a variation order for a roof access ladder for the Caddick Schneider project in Scarborough.

Trees continued to be manufactured in our factory before being painted and delivered to site for installation at Saxton Lane.

October

October came along and we saw a huge boost to our order book with over £200,000.00 worth of orders.

The second of our Premier Modular orders for the year saw us pick up a staircase package for Whitley Wood fire station in Reading. Work has been ongoing on that project for the last couple of months with good progress being made.

After great work on recent Stainforth projects, we were commissioned for their latest ARLA project, this one is due to start in January in Lockerbie. This scope of work includes support steelwork, steel stairs, handrails and balustades.

We also receieved orders from Marshall Building Contractors for projects In Speke and Warrington.

November

November saw us acquire a couple of smaller metalwork packages from long standing partners Stainforth and Caddick to give a nice little boost to our order book heading into our final month of the calender year.

Work finished on site at Saxton Lane with the wind mitigation trees and panels looking stunning at Torsion's new development in Leeds.

We also signed off on the Caddick YARA project and recieved a glowing report from their project manager. Read about that here.

December

As we started to wind down towards the end of the year, December has saw an influx of orders which lead us nicely into 2025.

A big project worth over £300k for Actiform, a new project for Torsion in York and a provisional order from new customers Phoenix Building gave us a very positive end to the year overall.

As a company we can look back on 2024 with great fondness, overcoming difficult obstacles and periods where work looked difficult to come by. But with some big projects ahead going into 2025 we are hoping for to see our order book grow whilst delivering high quality products and services to our loyal customers.

Thanks to everyone for their support in what has been a difficult year in the construction industry and we look forward to working with you all again in 2025. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year!
